We absolutely loved last year's Raptor which had been completely redesigned and was such a great board for getting those advanced moves nailed. And the 2017 Raptor has built on that reputation. It remains the go-to board for intermediate to advanced freeride and freestyle riders who want a high performance machine that will take them to the next level. For 2017, CrazyFly have introduced a new matt overprint for a premium look which really stands out. There is also the brand new Nano Glide Skin on the underside of the board whose micro channels enhance upwind performance and board tracking. This new skin also has the benefit of being more scratch resistant as well as providing better gliding performance for improved acceleration.
Previous Raptors always allowed super edging and the ability to zip upwind with a twist of the shoulders, but the new Step Cap deck technolgy allows for thinner rails giving even more to the edging and upwind capability. On top of that, grip and speed are enhanced by another design feature - the Multi Channel bottom shape and V tips. Check out the photos to see what this looks like - we think CrazyFly have got this design spot-on.
Similar to last year, the 2017 Raptor has been constructed to be just a touch softer than previous editions of the board, giving a more comfortable ride across all conditions. This has been brought about by the construction layup which combines brand new X carbon with multi axial fiberglass - and for us, more comfort means less fatigue and therefore more time on the water! The X carbon also helps with the crucial ability to pop, helping you pull off those tricks. Another new feature continued from last year are the stronger, lighter, Light Up sidewalls which feature a beautiful colour-changing look.
Add the Hexa Bindings if you want the ultimate in comfort and great board feel. We love these bindings and footpads and find them the most comfortable and adjustable we have ever used in all our years of kitsurfing. The board features new insert positions so those who prefer wake bindings will find them compatible.
